New York, November 2017

When the dawn breaks through the curtain,

Allowing the day to breathe us back to life.

Rustling of the sheets, and the streets below

Echoing sounds that survived the night.

Life becomes quite a dream,

Peering through the window pane

Tucked above the mayhem of it all

The passersby underneath the screaming lights

That reflecting the colors that line my

Memories I’ll keep of him.

The black of his hair that danced

to the brisk wind off the Atlantic.

The pink of his nose, kissed by the chill

Of winter. The brown of his eyes, that

Look down at me and smile while

His hand reaches for mine,

Keeping me steady, safe like

The towers lining the river.
